In November 2019 and twice in 2020 the catchment had severe rainfall events but the rise of the river at Shipston and downstream, as well as flooding in upstream villages, was less than might normally have been expected and several landowners noted the same on their land. There are various reasons including the dryness of the ground but there seems no doubt that our NFM interventions helped to reduce flood risk during these events.
