2021 EA Flood Award - WINNER

Late 2019 Update

It is great to report that many of our Phase 2 projects are nearing completion.. This means over 120 NFM interventions have been completed in the last 3 months.

October 28th – The SAFAG Chair and Secretary presented an update powerpoint to over 30 residents/flood group members of Long Compton at the Village Hall. The presentation was well received with lots of questions and local advice offered from the audience.

Contractors have now commenced work in both Cow Pastures and the Sibfords sub catchments which will mean another 80 large woody debris dams being installed, This brings our total number of natural flood management interventions to almost 500 to date, all of these slowing the flow on the two main watercourses, thereby reducing the peak flows downstream.

September 10th – Our secretary enjoyed a pleasant evening with 25 members of Shipston’s Rotary Club at the White Bear, Shipston, where he delivered an after supper presentation on the current SAFAG intervention successes.

SAFAG have received good support from Storm Geomatics who have carried out surveys and produced some excellent plans for 2 NFM offline ponds.
