Our Steering Group have worked hard over the winter period, engaging with landowners, drawing up plans and then applying for consent to Warks County Council. This hard work is now enabling our contractors to install a multitude of interventions on numerous watercourses across the catchment. SAFAG continue to work well with all the local flood teams and Parish/Town Councils. These installations of Natural Flood Management interventions include the following:-
Upstream of Brailes, 50 woody dams have now been installed and a further 60+ are to be installed post harvest
Upstream of Long Compton, another 50+ dams now installed with another 40 to be installed within the next few weeks
Paddle Brook area, (around Stretton on Fosse) over 20 dams now installed.
Despite Covid 19, SAFAG are working safely and having weekly Zoom meetings to ensure our project management plan continues at pace with great support from our local EA team. A special thanks must go to the farmers and landowners who have shown tremendous community spririt in allowing these interventions to be installed on their land. Thank you one and all.
