Warwickshire Stour Catchment Partnership (WSCP), is a new umbrella group that has been formed at the request of the WCC Flood Team and the National Flood Forum. The flood groups who participate are SAFAG, Brailes, Long Compton, Darlingscott, and also residents from Cherington and Stourton.
At the second meeting of WSCP, SAFAG gave a powerpoint presentation to all attendees on their successes to date, which include installation of 360 interventions in 15 months. SAFAG explained that we wish to commence NFM interventions on the Stour, Sutton and Nethercote watercourses from April 2019 to Autumn 2020.
The consensus of the WSCP meeting was that all flood groups appear to support SAFAG as being the ‘delivery group’ as we have the strategic plan, substantial funding, sufficient for 2019 and together with an experienced project team and multiple contractors to carry out the proposed interventions.
Unfortunately our Project Officer Tom Lavers has been offered a permanent post with Coventry University. His skill sets and his good work will be sorely missed. SAFAG members would like to thank him for all his hard work over the last several years on phase 1 of the project and we wish him well in his new post.
Typically SAFAG does not stand still for too long and we have already identified and interviewed a new project officer who hopefully will start work on of the planning phase 2 very shortly.
